Qscat from SSMI

This swell came from a storm that formed suddenly. It had pressure of 960 mBar to the northeast of a local small 1020 mBar high . This created a sharp NW wind pointed at Mavericks from 1000 miles away. The swell hit with poor visibility at over 20 ft 20 seconds, and after 1 PM on the 21st the southeast winds and rain really started. Virtually the entire coast was shut down from the heavy swell - SC east side got crowded. Mavericks was ridden tow-in at 80 ft, and had a 100 ft rogue set. Second day was a mere 14 ft 17 sec as a trailer swell came through.
